Paintings from the past 2 year fresh from the studio are placed here. This way, website visitors are always the first to know and have the first choice when it comes to new developments. You can always contact me by email or 06 for additional information.
I use acrylic paint as a medium. Material has started to play an increasingly important role in the creation of a work. The paint on the painting is thickly layered. As a result, the painting actually physically manifests itself in the world. The paint seems to adhere to the canvas as a deposit. The resulting accumulations of paint on the side of the painting frame the painted interior spaces. Time has passed over the tranquil image with caked edges.
Because volume is not one of the qualities of acrylic paint and I can no longer tolerate oil paint, I do research on the internet, in practice and through workshops and recipes from the Old Masters. I experiment with ingredients that I add to the paint such as flour, river sand, lime.
I am currently experimenting with reusing paint. When I get to my studio in the morning, my palette with the dried paint is waiting to be cleaned. Every morning I see the paint residue from the day before. I’m saving this in a bucket. Until recently I took the full bucket to the Milieustraat. Now I keep that bucket with paint residues and have started to look at those residues differently. I shred the scraps into small pieces and reuse them by mixing them into the paint. This means that the pieces no longer end up in the environment and I have a mix with small flexible particles that gives the ‘body’ to my paint that I was looking for.
